Join us tonight, Thursday May 31st, where G.A.L.A. will be partnering with the Green Mountain Conservation Group (GMCG) Youth Coalition, Lakes Region Planning Commission (LRPC), and the Ossipee Conservation Commission to give a demonstration for the public on how to make alternatives to household hazardous chemicals. The demonstration will be taking place at the Ossipee Library at 6pm.
This year the LRPC was able to obtain a small grant from NH Department of Environmental Services to pay for the printing large batch of “Alternatives to Household Hazardous Waste” flipbooks – a compact, wire-bound, eye-catching resource of Tips and Recipes that folks can keep around the house. Many have already been distributed at Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collections. The LRPC would like to get more of these flipbooks into the hands of Lakes Region residents and demonstrate some of these alternatives. The goal of distributing these books and conducting these demonstrations is to reduce the amount of household hazardous waste that people purchase. In the flipbook one can find recipes to be used around the house, the garage, the yard, and even the workbench.
David Jeffers of the LRPC and Maureen Criassa, the Center Harbor HHW coordinator are gearing up to give a demonstration of some of these Tips & Recipes as well as distribute the flipbooks to participants. For more Information call 539-1859 or email gmcgnh-wqm@roadrunner.com.
