(Wolfeboro) Tickets are now available for the Organic Dinner, Photo Display, and Raffle taking place Tuesday, February 10th, from 5pm-7pm at the Todoro Leadership Center. This exciting and romantic evening has been made possible by the collective efforts of Northwoods YMCA, LifeShare, and Global Awareness Local Action (G.A.L.A.). All proceeds will benefit the respective organizations’ youth enrichment and sustainable community building programs.

Dinner will include your choice of a meat or vegetarian Three-Bean Chili, accompanied by freshly baked cornbread and a mixed green salad with a blueberry shortcake dessert. All ingredients will be local and organic when possible. Prices are as follows: Adult $15 includes dinner and adult raffle entry, Juniors (12-17yrs) $10 includes dinner and junior raffle entry, and Children (5-11yrs) $5 includes dinner door gift. Raffle prizes include a gift certificate to Garwoods Restaurant & Pub, Louis’ Pizza, a bouquet of fresh cut flowers from Dandelion Florists, and more!

Monies raised at Tuesday’s Benefit Dinner will fund youth enrichment and sustainability projects for G.A.L.A., LifeShare, and the YMCA. G.A.L.A. plans to use the raised money to fund a summer internship for area youth interested in learning about local food systems and community organizing skills. Interns will help G.A.L.A. manage the Wolfeboro Farmers’ Market, oversee the Community Garden Project, and help with a Community Supported Agriculture program.

The YMCA, with its generous offer to use the Todaro Leadership Center for this event, will use its portion of the proceeds for its summer Outreach Program – a scholarship initiative that enables kids and families of lesser means to attend their summer camp. In addition, sales from the Photo Art Project will go directly to LifeShare youth participants, demonstrating the value of creativity, hard work and commitment.

LifeShare is a Human Services Organization connecting people to their communities in ways that help participants gain independence from the human services system. The organization’s goal is to engage people in their communities so they can exercise their rights as citizens and contribute to society as a whole. LifeShare works with people of all ages and abilities to offer a wide range of services including: residential, community-based and in-home support, foster care, behavioral health services, vocational support, fiscal intermediary services, guardianship services and private consultation.

Global Awareness Local Action (G.A.L.A.) is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit that organizes sustainability projects throughout the Lakes Region. G.A.L.A.’s programs include the Wolfeboro Area Farmers’ Market, Homesteading Skill Workshops, and a Buy Wisely Locally Campaign. Last summer G.A.L.A. teamed up with the Kingswood Youth Center to offer free clothesline installations to area-residents who wanted to reduce their carbon-footprint by hang-drying their clothes instead of using a drying machine.
