First Night Chili & Chowda’ Fundraiser – Volunteers Needed

Dear G.A.L.A. Community,

Good tidings! G.A.L.A. is gearing up to bring 2008 to a close with a final sustainablicious hoorah – our annual First Night Wolfeboro Chili & Chowda’ Fundraiser. Last year was a big success thanks to dozens of people who helped organize the event, donate ingredients, prepare and donate desserts, and volunteer at our booth serving soup and drinks. We hope to have the same turnout of volunteers this year and are writing to share a few ways you can help. Here they are –

1) Prepare a dessert. Find a few moments between now and Wed afternoon to prepare that special cookie, brownie or other dessert recipe of yours to compliment the chili and chowda’ main courses. In our effort to make this as close to a “zero-waste” event as possible, we request finger foods that do not require utensils and/or are not individually wrapped. If you think you will be able to donate a dessert food please email Jessamy Wood at jessamy_jessamy@yahoo.com or call 515-3417.

2) Help serve food. Volunteer for a shift setting up the spread, serving food, cleaning dishes, and closing up. We are looking for volunteers to help anywhere between 4:30 – 10:30 pm. If you are able to help, please contact Josh by calling 603.344.5009.

3) Spread the word. Our Chili & Chowda’ fundraiser is only successful if people are hungry and know where to get the most sustainablicious meal around! I know those of you who tasted last year’s homemade chili and chowder will be back for more, how could you not? For those who missed out, please let all your friends and family that G.A.L.A. will be serving delicious, homemade chili and chowder made with all whole, organic, local, ingredients where available. Serving time is from 6:00 to 10:00 at the Kingswood High School. These soups warm the bones, satisfy the taste buds, and help support a sustainable food economy.

That about sums it up. If you are able to help in any of the three ways described above, please let us know as soon as possible. Your support throughout the year has been tremendous. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Peace, peace, peace. And HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Warmly and Gratefully Yours,

Josh
