Do you want to drastically reduce your expense of laundry detergent and all-purpose cleaner while also helping the environment? Join G.A.L.A.’s AmeriCorps VISTA member Emily Richey on Wednesday November 13 for a“D.I.Y. Eco-Friendly Household Cleaner” workshop.
Emily Richey will be leading participants though the process of creating everyday household cleaners including laundry detergent and all-purpose cleaning spray using simple, affordable, and non-toxic ingredients such as baking soda, vinegar, and essential oils. Homemade laundry soap and cleaners not only save dangerous chemicals found in store bought cleaners from ending up in our waterways and airways, but also decreases these chemicals in your clothes, home, and body. Store bought detergents and cleanser are full of fragrances (an allergen) and other cancer causing and toxic chemicals. When making your own detergents and cleaners, you know exactly what is in it, and immediately, what is in the clothes you wear on your body, and the home you live in. Additionally, homemade laundry detergent and cleaners are very easy and cheap to make – you can wash a load of laundry for mere pennies!
All workshops are $15.00 for G.A.L.A. members or $35.00 for non-members. However, in honor of Veteran’s Day, all Veterans will have free entry to this workshop. For this workshop, there is an additional materials cost of $15.00. Workshops are open to the public and typically run from 5:30-8:00pm. Participant capacity varies for each topic, so anyone interested should preregister by contacting G.A.L.A.’s AmeriCorps VISTA member, Emily Richey at 603-539-6460 or email email@example.com.
