September Volunteer of the Month Award goes to Sharon O’Donnell

Sharon O DonnellG.A.L.A.’s September volunteer award goes to Sharon O’Donnell. Sharon has been instrumental in the planning, setup, and execution of G.A.L.A.’s annual Farm to Table Feast for the last three years in a row.  With Sharon’s incredible eye for detail and creative way of using natural and recycled objects to create beautiful decorations, it is no coincidence she joined the Farm to Table Decorating Team along with Mary Beth Bryant and Donita Coburn-Amadio.
Leading up to this year’s event and especially through the month of September, Sharon spent countless hours prepping the succulent center pieces, ironing napkins and table clothes, and gathering acorns and pinecones to decorate the tables at this year’s Farm to Table Feast.
As the big day approached and final details started to pile high, Sharon logged three days of volunteering in a row just before the event.  Monday and Tuesday prior to the event  Sharon was at the Barn at Moody Mountain Farm cutting flowers, placing hay bales, and hanging lighting.
As if that wasn’t enough, when asked if she could volunteer as a server the night of the event after a volunteer cancellation, Sharon stepped right up to the plate with enthusiasm!  Unbelievable.
Finally, after such a marathon of volunteering you would think Sharon would leave the cleanup for others – guess again. Sharon returned to the barn Wednesday morning to help with cleanup and return decorations that were borrowed from Spider Web Gardens, and she did it all with a smile.  Just before parting ways as she heads back to California for the winter, Sharon let it be known how much she enjoyed helping out and that she was already looking forward to helping again next year.  WOW.
Sharon, thank you so very much for your help, creativity, and positive energy!  G.A.L.A.’s Farm to Table would have not been the same without you!
