Sustain-A-Raisers. It’s where sustainability meets barn raising – volunteer work parties where the community comes together to help one another install gardens, compost bins, rain barrels, clotheslines, and more. We have been doing this program for a number of years in the Lakes Region of NH, but the more exciting news is this – the program is ready to share!
We’ve created a Sustain-A-Raiser Starter Kit that includes everything you and your group would need to plan and execute your own Sustain-A-Raiser, perfect for a community service project, fundraiser, team building activity, or educational exercise, or all of the above!
PDF: Take a sneak peek at the Starter Kit’s Tab of Contents, Introduction, and Appendix.
VIDEO: We also made a short video that explains the Community Partner program.
We will be offering the Kit at for free to no more than 10 Community Partners this year as a pilot project. If you are part of a group, nonprofit, faith community, club, etc. that likes to do community service projects and is looking for something new where all the planning and organizing is laid out in a simple step-by-step manual, than you are probably a good match. Take a minute to a look at the two links above and consider using this Starter Kit to engage your group in launching a Sustain-A-Raiser in your community. And you are not part of a group that’s a good fit but know of one that is, feel free to pass along this opportunity.
