Wildcrafting Food & Medicine Series

Wildcrafting Food & Medicine in Spring

With Carol Felice
Saturday, May 27th from 1-3pm
At The Community School in Tamworth

Local organization Global Awareness Local Action (G.A.L.A.) is excited to announce the next feature in their 2017 NH Re-skill-ience Workshop Series, hands-on workshops focusing on homesteading, sustainable living, and traditional bushcraft skills. Workshops are designed to help participants develop skills and knowledge that strengthen personal and community resilience.  The next workshop, Wildcrafting Food & Medicine Series (Spring Session), takes place on Saturday, May 27th, from 1-3pm, at The Community School at 1164 Bunker Hill Rd, South Tamworth, NH 03883.

Carol is an incredibly skilled and practiced herbalist. We are so lucky that this will be the second of four workshops hosted by Carol Felice during 2017. The spring session has much to offer, just take a look outside! With all the green life sprouting above ground, Carol can now teach us the different local plants you can forage for food and medicine. We are so excited about all of Carol’s workshops, but please know that you do not need to sign up for multiple to participate in the workshop coming up on May 27th!

Participants will learn to recognize wild spring edibles by sight, texture, and sometimes even sound, scent, and taste! Folks will learn their properties and how wild edibles can be used for food – cooked and raw. They will learn which parts of local plants are to be eaten and foraged and which to leave. Nearly all of these plants are also beneficial as medicine and for healing. On Saturday, we will be eating wild plants in the field and bringing them back to the kitchen for a prepped snack and beverage. During this workshop Carol will teach us to make wild pesto as our snack. In addition, we will forage for greens to be take home for our dinner salads.

Please be prepared for the outdoors — sun, rain, bugs, and walking on uneven terrain. Bring a notebook and/or camera to aid your learning process. It would be great to bring a handled harvest basket, if you have one. Otherwise, please bring something to collect your greens in and also don’t forget your adventurous appetite!
This workshop takes place from 1-3pm, at The Community School in Tamworth. The cost to participate in the workshop is $18.00. Pre-registration is specifically requested for this event to be sure enough supplies will be provided. Please register HERE or by calling 603-539-6460.
